Brandon is nicknamed “Big B” for obvious reasons. The NPC standout veers upward toward 300 lb in the off-season at a height of 5’11”, hitting the stage at nearly 260 shredded pounds.
Growing up in Lowell, Indiana, Brandon started lifting weights in high school for athletics, but discovered he enjoyed the training more than the sports themselves. He entered his first bodybuilding show when he was 19 years old, winning the Teen Overall and taking runner-up in the open light heavyweight class. He was hooked, and decided this was what he wanted to do. Since then, Big B has placed in the top five in several national shows, but is still looking to earn his Pro card.
Brandon has a BA in exercise science and nutritional sciences, and has been working as a personal trainer, nutritionist, and coach for almost 15 years. “I’m known for my knowledge in training mechanics and have worked with many top athletes revamping their training techniques,” he says. His services are in heavy demand in person and online.
Brandon is happily married to his wife, Carli. The couple has a son, Jaxin, who is nearly 11 years old. But the household is better known for a trio of charming characters who are capturing hearts around the world.
“We have three pretty amazing American bullies who’ve become quite popular: Romeo, Chyna, and MoMo,” says Brandon. And, yes, the bulldogs have their own Instagram account: @romeo_chy_american_bullies. Stop by and say, “Arf!” Bring treats.
BRANDON’S FAVORITE TRAINING SONGS
Brandon plays it by ear in the gym, so to speak. “I don’t have any particular favorite songs. My playlist is a mashup of genres. Sometimes music distracts me when I’m scrolling for the ‘right’ song before a big set.”
When he’s not in the mood for music, Brandon will tune into podcasts during his gym time. “Listening to people who’ve achieved great things is motivating and puts me in a good state of mind while training.”
BRANDON’S NUTRITION ADVICE
“Food is the raw foundation of any goal: size, strength, weight loss, recovery,” says Brandon. “You are a product of your diet.”
When your nickname is Big B, you eat big. “I’ve always relied on my ability to put down large amounts of food, and it’s played a pivotal role in my bodybuilding career.”
BRANDON’S TRAINING ADVICE
As you would expect of a world-class trainer with an academic background, Brandon’s approach is analytical and thorough.
“Training for me has always been more methodical—form and technique with a reason behind everything I do,” he says.
In the end, nothing beats old-school, hardcore intensity. “I love volume with heavier workloads, utilizing various intensifiers to further break down the muscle and fill them with as much blood as possible. I train hard and fast and have gotten to be known for my unique techniques and intensity.”
