Why did you decide to participate in the 12-Week Transformation Challenge?
Each year I do some form of transformation or trainer. This year the 12-Week Challenge lined up perfectly with my 56th birthday and some travel to Cabo in May.
What was that eye-opening moment that pushed you to start?
For me, it was the first week where my calories needed to be in the 2,700+ range for Project Inferno. I was like, “Holy crap, that’s a lot of food!”
Why did you choose to start with the Project Inferno Fat Loss Trainer instead of the other programs?
That’s easy. I have done almost all of Kris’ trainers over the past several years and have followed Fouad’s career since before he was an IFBB Pro. To put these two trainers together was a perfect match for learning new techniques and reducing fat over the 12 weeks of training.
Which Kaged Muscle supplements did you take during this transformation?
I utilize almost all of them every day and have added each to my daily stack as they have been produced and marketed with KM. I would say I did not use all three proteins every day the entire 12 weeks. I use almost all real meals and foods. I did use Micropure Whey Protein Isolate and Kasein during the first 8 weeks, and then RE-KAGED and Kasein the last 4 weeks.
What is your favorite Kaged Muscle supplement and why?
The Orange flavored Amino Synergy is my absolute favorite. I will even use 2 scoops as a pre-workout instead of PRE-KAGED. I love the flavor and it always feels like I get a super clean feeling from it! Focus is incredible and I do not run out of energy during the workout.
Can you provide a sample day of the eating you followed?
Each of the trainers was a bit different for foods, but below is a generic sample for most days:
- Micropure Whey Protein Isolate as soon as I wake with some added Glutamine
- Whole egg with 1 cup of egg whites, dry oats, cooked
- Chicken breast, white rice, and broccoli
- Low-fat turkey breast, red potato, and green beans
- Low-fat ground beef, rice or red potato, and lettuce or cucumber
- Low-fat cottage cheese and some veggies
- Kasein right before bed with some added Glutamine
How did you manage any craving that you faced during your transformation?
For the first 8–9 weeks cravings were not a big deal. If I did crave prior to the second cardio session, I might eat celery, lettuce, or a piece of cucumber in a small portion.
In your opinion, what is the best piece of advice that you found during the Project Inferno Fat Loss Trainer and the 4Weeks2Shred programs?
Stay on track and don’t try to create or do something different. The trainers FLAT work if you follow them as they are laid out.
What aspects of this transformation challenged you most?
I would say all the food at the beginning of Project Inferno was tough, but I ate every one of the meals and stayed on track and even lost weight the very first weeks. The last 10 days of the 4Weeks2Shred is always tough but I have done it a few times and knew what to expect, and stayed focused on the end result.
What strategies helped you overcome roadblocks in regard to family, social gatherings, diet, workout, and career during this trainer?
For the most part, I did not go to any social or family gatherings to ensure that I would be successful. For the diet piece, I had the luxury of making the food fresh each day and that always helps a lot. In the past, I have done all the food prep on a Sunday and by the end of the week the food is not as fresh and is tougher to eat. If I left the house I always took food with me so no matter what came up I knew I could stay on point with the diet.
How did you continue to keep yourself motivated throughout your transformation?
I have been training regularly for almost 15 years and have had multiple setbacks (lower back herniation, both shoulders redone, and a heart attack 2 years ago). I simply know that for me to fend off getting old and unable to be healthy, it is a MUST to set small goals and achieve those small goals one at a time. Who knows, I might make it to 100 and want to be healthy and active as long as I possibly can.
What is your advice for others wanting to start this program?
Read all the information and watch each video more than once if you need to. Then follow the trainer that’s laid out and you will be successful. Also, the new KM App is so easy to use and follow, so make sure to download it and use it every day.
What are the top three songs that you listened to when you needed to dig deep?
- DJ Khaled’s “All I Do is Win”
- Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic”
- Tupac Shakur’s “All Eyez on Me”
What new fitness goals do you have in mind?
For the summer I will mix up DTP training and instinctive training coupled with good food and daily cardio.
What is the next step?
To be the best version of ME every day and be as healthy and fit as possible.
